History of the iPod
Many people would agree that no MP3 player comes close to the iPod. Although there is a numerous amount of competition, no one company has risen to take any considerable market share from Apple.
Surprisingly, it only took a short amount of time to develop the first iPod. It was released in late 2001 and was announced at the Macworld Conference. To make the iPod, Apple utilized the skills of Tony Fadell and other outside help.
Unlike many other MP3 players, iPods are very easy to use. The newest ones enable you to go directly where you need to go, whether it be songs, pictures, or videos. Even the original iPods were as simplistic.
While the original iPod is still going strong (it is currently in the sixth edition and has been renamed the iPod Classic), several other models have been introduced over the years. The first addition was the iPod Mini, where the notable distinction was a sharp reduction in size. It also was the first to use a click wheel instead of a mechanical wheel.
The iPod Mini wasn’t out long before it was replaced by the iPod Nano. Just like the Mini surprised people with its small size, the Nano did with its incredibly small size. Four different versions of the iPod Nano have been released since its inception.
The cheapest type of iPod available is the iPod Shuffle. The low cost is due to the fact that the Shuffle has no screen, and is controlled only by buttons. The principle is that if you only put songs on it you like, then the shuffle feature should be adequate, although many people like the higher interactivity of other models.
The newest and most advanced iPod is the iPod Touch. Instead of using a click wheel, users can directly access areas by touch. The iPod Touch is the first iPod to have Internet access and WiFi capability as well.
Apple’s iPhone can play music and is similar to the iTouch, but it has additional capabilities, such as the ability to join a phone network. It is not technically considered an iPod even though its structure is the same as the iPod Touch.
